Family Threads: Holiday Photos

Christmas Card Family Photo

Christmas Card Family Photo

We haven't had professional photos taken since Jax was 6 months old. When I saw that a local photographer was offering mini-sessions, I decided that it would be a great way to try out a new photographer and to get a couple of pictures to use for our Christmas card. (Santa is even going to be there so we'll be able to avoid the long lines at the mall this year). Since we're actually paying for photos, I decided to put a little thought into what we'll all be wearing so we're not scrambling the night before (like usual). This is what I've come up with, so far... What do you think?

Mama Threads: My New Favorite Jeans

Shirt: Lace & Lines Pullover- Anthropologie
Pants: AG Legging- Anthropologie
Shoes: Banana Republic

Anthropologie has had two decent sales in the past two weeks. I've been pretty good about restraining myself for the upcoming holiday shopping season, but I had to stop in last week. My sole purpose was to nab this lovely little top (that I had been waiting to go on sale for several months). I arrived at the store in my workout gear, so I grabbed a pair of jeans to try on with the top. I absolutely fell in love with these AG leggings (and I'm very picky about my jeans)! They are flattering and comfortable and because of the Lycra they don't stretch out very much with wear. I've worn them for five days straight (don't judge) and they still look great. I don't buy items full price very often, but I'm tempted to buy another pair (so I don't have to go a day without wearing them while they're being washed). Another benefit is that they tuck effortlessly into boots. I also noticed on Anthro's website that they have a velvet version!!
I'll definitely need to try these on next time I'm in the store. They'd be perfect for holiday parties and gatherings!

Lace-Yoke Dress

Dress: Lace-Yoke Dress- Anthropologie
Purse: Invitation Clutch- J.Crew
Wrap: Hot Mama

I wore this to a wedding at an enchanted barn. Yes, it was just as whimsical as it sounds... I wish I had taken this picture earlier so you could actually see the beautiful surroundings. This dress was a total impulse buy. We've had three weddings in the past month and I wore the same dress to the first two. I got it dry-cleaned and planned on wearing it to this wedding as well, until I spotted this beauty hanging in my local Anthro store. My son was in tow so I very quickly tried it on, fell in love, and purchased it! I am so happy that I did! It is a very well-made, nicely lined dress in a stunning color. It is a richer green-blue jewel tone than the picture shows. It is also the perfect length for us 30-somethings who don't want to show too much leg. I'm 5'10" and it hits just above my knee. The lace detail adds a feminine touch and is very flattering to the waist line and décolleté. I could go on and on. I absolutely LOVE this dress and know that it will get lots of use. It can be dressed up or down for many different occasions and seasons.

I already gushed about the invitation clutch in this post, but I have to mention it again. I've had this purse less than two months and have already gotten tons of use out of it. It's fits all the essentials for a wedding, dinner, or a night out on the town. I love this polka dot pattern, but it also comes in colorblock, gold, and even calf hair!

Mama Threads: Ikat Frequencies Shirt Dress

Dress: Ikat Frequencies Shirtdress- Anthropologie
Bag: Dipped Canvas Jaden Tote- Tory Burch
Shoes: Air Tali Open Toe Wedge- Cole Haan

I put this outfit together for a girl's night out.  (By the way, a "night out" these days entails dinner and a drink and home by 10:30). I finally picked up the Ikat Frequencies Shirtdress when it went on sale last week at Anthropologie. It had been tempting me all summer and I couldn't pass it up for $60. Unfortunately, the temps have already dropped quite drastically where I live so I will not be able to where it as a dress until next summer. Instead, I paired it with a pair of denim leggings which I think worked pretty well and proves what a versatile piece this is!

I must talk about that pretty little tote in my hand, as well. I am in LOVE! My hubby bought it for me for out 7 year anniversary (with a little hinting from me). This is the perfect carryall bag for a mom on the go. The colors are rich and vibrant and will go nicely with black or brown. The inside has a zippered pocket as well as two pouches so your keys and cell phone won't get lost in the abyss.
It is a beautiful and functional bag and worth every penny because I know it will get lots of use over the years!

J. Crew Finds

J. Crew is offering an extra 30% off sale items through tonight, on-line only. Here's what I scored:

I don't usually spend this much on jewelry, but the crystal marquis bracelet is beautiful! I'll be attending three weddings this fall and this will be a perfect accent piece.

The Invitation Clutch also caught my eye. I had dreweled over this beauty in the store and was impressed with the quality. It's crafted in leather with a cotton lining and tuck-away golden chain. This is a classic piece that I'm sure will get tons of use over the years.

I also made a couple purchases in the store today. Sadly, their additional 30% off sale had already ended. No bargains here, but I found a couple sweaters that I'm excited to add to my wardrobe.
The colors in this sweater look a little scary on-line, but this color combo caught my eye (in a good way) in the store. The red isn't quite so bright in person. It's actually more of a burgandy/brick red color. It's the perfect weight for fall.
Tippi Cardigan (turquoise pool)- $85
As you can see, I'm a little crazy over Tippi! This is a classic and comes in 13 awesome colors. I want them all. I picked this color because I think it will go very nicely with my new bracelet. There's one more Tippi that I have to share. Since I already blew my shopping budget this month, it's wait listed for now...

Check out my newest polyvore set featuring a few of my new items!

Toddler Threads: Back to School

Even though I think Jax is advanced, at 18 months, he's not quite ready to start school. This hasn't stopped me from doing a little "back to school" shopping, though. Here are a few of my picks:

Fleece Puffer Vest- GAP ($39.95)
Slub-Knit Pullover- GAP ($24.95)
Colored Skinny Jeans- GAP ($29.95)

Brogue Sneakers- GAP ($24.95)
Boys' Sherpa Zip Hoodie- Crew Cuts ($59.50)
This might seem like a steep price for a hoodie, but these are amazing. They have a really thick, cozy lining and can be worn as a jacket into the Fall. My husband owns one, as well!
Boys' Convertible Puffer- Crew Cuts ($118)
This cute jacket has removable sleeves, so it can be worn as a vest on warmer days!!
